Jim Gueno is the president, principal consultant and founder of LendSmart Consulting, LLC – a new enterprise established in March, 2007. He has 25 years experience in most all aspects of mortgage lending and is recognized nationally within the industry as a successful “builder” of regional mortgage enterprises primarily in the southeast.
Jim entered the mortgage business in at a family owned mortgage company in Louisiana. He quickly went from a customer service role into originating mortgages then managing operational and sales aspects of the business. |

He has held sales and regional management roles with large, national mortgage lending firms such as Countrywide Home Loans, HomeSide Lending, RBMG/NetBank and U.S. Bank.
Jim has worked in all three channels of the industry: retail, wholesale and correspondent lending and has extensive experience managing sales, marketing and lending operations. Over the course of his career in mortgage lending, Jim has (cumulatively) supervised directly or indirectly over 100 retail loan officers, 150 wholesale account executives, many dozen operations personnel and has produced or purchased approximately $10 billion in residential mortgage production across 18 states. He also assisted in the start-up or major reorganization of more than 40 retail mortgage enterprises for community banks, credit unions, home builders and real estate brokerages. His articles on mortgage lending have appeared in several national mortgage industry trade publications. Further, he has created several customized technology applications for electronic marketing, CRM, compliance and secondary marketing. Jim travels frequently working on projects nationally. He is a married father of three young children who resides in Jonesboro, Arkansas and enjoys the outdoor activities abundantly available in the Mid-South with his scant free time. Task-Oriented Contract Consultants: LendSmart is an organization still in it’s start-up phase and, as such, we will not pretend competence in matters beyond our scope or availability. At this point, beyond situational employees geared to the due diligence, technology and recruiting practices, our principal consultant and founder is our only direct employ major project consultant. What we can do however, is to provide access to a clearinghouse populated with talented mortgage lending executives that may (at their option) accept individual assignments on a contracted basis. In these cases we will administer the process entirely including escrow and disbursement of fees to guarantee performance and satisfactory completion of the project. Basically we match the talent with the need and if a good fit for all involved, will provide the structure for the overall project in terms of monitoring and guiding the performance of these individual consultants.
